WHAT IS THE FAYETTEVILLE HALF MARATHON?
The Fayetteville Half Marathon is a race that will visit some of Fayetteville's most unique spots. Saturday will feature the Magic Mile, a one mile, all downhill race, as well as a vendor retail expo. On Sunday there will be a half-distance marathon, a community fundraising 5K, and a 1 mile fun run/walk. The most unique aspect to this event will be the finish line...the John McDonnell Outdoor Track Complex! Runners will enter the track and make a lap with crowds cheering them on from the stands.
WHAT IS THE HALF MARATHON COURSE LIKE?
The half marathon is a two-loop course which is mostly flat with a couple of moderate-incline sections and one nice downhill stretch during the final mile. The race begins inside the John McDonnell Outdoor Complex on the University of Arkansas campus. From there it makes its way north on Garland Ave, over to a portion of the Scull Creek Trail, down Dickson Street, through the U of A campus running past Old Main Building, and then back to the outdoor track complex for a lap inside the stadium. Enjoy the finishing stretch on Razorback Road because it's all downhill!
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
The Magic Mile race on Saturday is held on the John McDonnell Outdoor Track. There will be adult, teen and youth categories of the race as well as a family friendly event and vendor retail expo inside the Fayetteville Town Center with interactive games, demonstrations, industry representatives and local retailers. On Sunday in addition to the runs there will be a fun post-race celebration held at the stadium for the runners and their friends and families.
